Old TVs — especially heavy CRTs and large flat-screens — are classified as WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and need specialist recycling. You can't put them in your normal bins. Ringwood Recycling Centre (0.8 miles from Ringwood) has a WEEE bay for electronics. TVs are accepted, but larger screens can be awkward to transport in a car. Old CRT TVs are particularly heavy — a 32-inch CRT weighs around 40kg. Hampshire residents: proof of address required. If you've got a TV plus other items to clear, a TipRun collection makes more sense than multiple tip trips.
