Old TVs — especially heavy CRTs and large flat-screens — are classified as WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and need specialist recycling. You can't put them in your normal bins. In Ferndown, from West Moors, Longham and Tricketts Cross, we collect TVs and monitors of any type and size from your home. CRT, LCD, LED, plasma — they all contain materials that need proper handling. 1970s–1990s detached houses on estates properties in the area mean wall-mounted TVs, entertainment setups, and old screens stored in garages are all common finds during clear-outs. Wimborne Recycling Centre (3.5 miles from Ferndown) has a WEEE bay for electronics. TVs are accepted, but larger screens can be awkward to transport in a car. Old CRT TVs are particularly heavy — a 32-inch CRT weighs around 40kg. Proof of Dorset address required. If you've got a TV plus other items to clear, a TipRun collection makes more sense than multiple tip trips.

For TV disposal, please unplug the TV and remove any wall brackets if wall-mounted (we collect the TV, not the bracket). Remotes, cables, and small accessories can go with the TV at no extra charge.
