Old TVs — especially heavy CRTs and large flat-screens — are classified as WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and need specialist recycling. You can't put them in your normal bins. In Sherborne, from Castleton, Westbury and Oborne, we collect TVs and monitors of any type and size from your home. CRT, LCD, LED, plasma — they all contain materials that need proper handling. honey-coloured stone buildings and period properties properties in the area mean wall-mounted TVs, entertainment setups, and old screens stored in garages are all common finds during clear-outs. For large flat-screens this is manageable, but old CRT TVs are extremely heavy for their size. TipRun collects from inside your home.

Blandford Recycling Centre (18 miles from Sherborne) has a WEEE bay for electronics. TVs are accepted, but larger screens can be awkward to transport in a car. Old CRT TVs are particularly heavy — a 32-inch CRT weighs around 40kg. Dorset address proof required. If you've got a TV plus other items to clear, a TipRun collection makes more sense than multiple tip trips.
