Old mattresses are one of the most awkward items to get rid of. They're heavy, floppy, and won't fit in your car. In Christchurch, whether you're in Highcliffe, Mudeford and Somerford, mattress removal is one of our most popular services. With mix of bungalows and semi-detached houses common here, there's often a narrow staircase or tight hallway between the bedroom and the front door. We handle the manoeuvring — you just show us which mattress needs to go. Older demographic with high proportion of bungalows. Popular retirement destination. Highcliffe has a mix of family homes and retirement properties. That means we're regularly collecting mattresses from property upgrades, rental turnovers, and downsizers alike. Add a bed frame for £25 if the whole lot needs to go.

What's included

  • Collection from any room (ground floor)
  • Loading and van transport
  • Responsible disposal
  • Any size: single, double, king, super king

While the van's there: add a bed frame (£29.99), a second mattress (£54.99), or bags of rubbish (£39.99/bag)

Better value

Your mattress + call-out = £98.99000000000001 total. A half load is £179 — just £80.00999999999999 more to clear the whole bedroom.

Council Mattress Collection vs TipRun in Christchurch

BCP Council includes mattresses in their bulky waste scheme at £37.50 for up to 3 items. The catch? 2–3 weeks wait, and you need to get it to the kerbside yourself. Items must be left at the kerbside by 6:30am on collection day. No access to the property. Online booking only. Try getting a king-size mattress through a narrow hallway and out the front door on your own.

Taking a Mattress to Millhams Recycling Centre

Millhams Recycling Centre (1.5 miles from Christchurch) accepts mattresses, but getting one there is the challenge. You'll need to strap it to a roof rack or use a van — and most recycling centres won't let you dump a mattress in general waste; there's a specific bay you need to carry it to. Van/trailer permit required (free, apply online). For most people, a doorstep collection is easier and worth the cost.

Access & Parking in Christchurch

Many bungalows with single-level access. Some Highcliffe properties have steep driveways. Mudeford Quay area has narrow access roads. For mattress removal, please strip the bedding before we arrive. If the mattress is going from an upstairs room, let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly — ground floor is included in the price, upstairs may cost a little extra.

“Had a fridge and washing machine to get rid of. Both gone in 20 minutes. No faff.”

— Lisa T., Highcliffe

Frequently asked questions

How do I get rid of a mattress in Christchurch?

Three options: BCP Council bulky waste (£37.50 for up to 3 items, 2–3 weeks wait, kerbside only), take it to Millhams Recycling Centre yourself, or book TipRun from £4999 for same-day collection from your room.

Can you take a king-size mattress?

Yes — single, double, king, super king. Any size mattress, any condition. We'll get it through your doorways and onto the van.

What do you do with old mattresses?

Mattresses go to specialist recycling facilities where the springs, foam, and fabric are separated and recycled. The recycling rate for mattress materials is improving but they can't go to charity shops.

Can you take a mattress and bed frame together?

Yes — add a bed frame for £25 when booked with a mattress. We'll disassemble simple frames if needed.

Do you collect mattresses in Highcliffe, Mudeford and Somerford?

Yes — we cover all of Christchurch including Highcliffe, Mudeford and Somerford. Based in Poole, we're only 18 min away. Same-day slots available.
